Passenger Machine Truck Removal

Posted by Ceremonious State of war on Friday, April 24, 2009 nine:56 PM

I just purchased a Lionel fix of 2421, 2422, 2423 & 2429 rider cars. I would like to remove the bodies to practise some repairs to the window strips and I accept a couple of pickup wires that demand to be soldered and repaired. Is there a trick to getting the trucks off? It looks like it could be really hard and I would like some advice before I dive into information technology. Thank you in advance.

Do you know how to get the roof off?  The ii "ventilators" on the peak are actually screws holding the roof on.  Inside you'll discover the usual hard-to-reuse Lionel clips on the trucks' center bearings.  If yous spread the clips admittedly no more than necessary to get them off and then squeeze them only a piddling when you put them back on, yous may exist able to reuse them.

Terry,

What Bob said about those horseshoe shaped clips, take mind, they're fabricated of a soft metal and will pause apart, I know the hard way!

Rob,

When I think I'm merely going to buy one, or 2 items, I wind upward buying more.

That'due south because Jeff Kane's,"The Train Tender", website has photos. of his wares and the pictures, of the items, are enticing, but like trains are.

You just tin can't buy one.

 Bob,

For an electrical engineer, you are a pretty prissy guy. Cheers for the tip and putting up with a new guy hither.
