How To Repair Ford Ranger With Lifter Noise

Lifter Racket I recently bought a B4000 4.0 V6 which is just a rebadged Ranger with a Mazda Label. The engine seems a little noisy under the hood. Information technology comes from both banks of cylinders and is sort of a tapping sound. It is not real loud just louder than any engine I have had in the by. From the cab I don't hear anything unusual and I but wondered if this is mutual besides the Ranger 4.0 V6 engine. The engine has 85,000 miles, performs quite well although the gas mileage is not very good. Any comments would be appreciated. I am new to this forum. I am a chef and not a mechanic.

Re: Lifter Racket well Chef Dennis, Richard may be correct, injectors do tick.. at that mileage, engine should have no noise.. subsequently a fresh oil change if noise is yet the same, it'due south def injectors.. __________________

Re: Lifter Racket If its an SOHC, i made the aforementioned complaint months ago, and was explained we don't have lifters, not to worry about information technology. I don't know anything about the OHV, so if that's your engine i wouldn't accept the first inkling.

I don't know anything near the OHV, then if that's your engine i wouldn't have the showtime inkling. they take "Hydraulic" Lash Adjuster which is technically a Lifter.. __________________

Re: Lifter Noise i would check the lifters rocker arms.. they might be loose, if they get loose or exercise not accept the specific torque spec they will knock effectually making a ticking noise.. SOHC practice not have this problem because they like y'all said dont have lifters. simply i am curious withal to why the injectors would tick like that?? can anyone explain that __________________
